China's transportation sector is booming! From January to November 2025, the country witnessed an impressive surge in both passenger and freight traffic. Let's dive into the details.
The Ministry of Transport announced a remarkable 61.87 billion cross-regional passenger trips during the first eleven months of 2025. This figure represents a solid 3.6% increase compared to the previous year. That's a lot of people on the move!
Freight transport also showed robust growth. The total operational freight volume reached 53.54 billion tonnes, marking a 3.5% rise year-on-year. This encompasses various modes of transport, each contributing to the overall growth.

China's ports experienced significant activity, with container throughput showing rapid growth. The port cargo throughput increased by 4.4% year-on-year, totaling 16.75 billion tonnes. Within this, domestic and foreign trade cargo throughput grew by 4.5% and 4.1%, respectively.
