In a recent development, Blizzard has put an end to the speculation surrounding a potential Hearthstone sequel, but the company's hints at a major announcement for BlizzCon 2026 have left fans intrigued and eager for more.
While it's not a direct sequel to the beloved card game, Blizzard has confirmed that there's a significant reveal coming later this year. The company's executive producer, Nathan Lyons-Smith, clarified that it's not a whole new game but an exciting expansion of the existing Hearthstone experience.
"No, this is not a Hearthstone 2," Lyons-Smith emphasized. "We're bringing something familiar but in a bigger way than ever before."
And here's where it gets controversial... Despite the absence of a sequel, the upcoming BlizzCon announcement promises to be a game-changer. Lyons-Smith hinted at a familiar concept, but on a grander scale, surpassing even the highly anticipated Cataclysm expansion.
Cataclysm, set to arrive on March 17th, reimagines the World of Warcraft expansion, bringing back the formidable Deathwing and his colossal companions. These mega-minions, like the giant lava worm Magmaw, pose a significant challenge with their ability to refill minion spaces and recharge an impressive 99 times!
In addition to these colossal creatures, Cataclysm introduces new keywords, an engaging story, and powerful abilities like Rewind, allowing players to redo their moves. As a bonus, Blizzard will make all cards from the Un'Goro and Emerald Dream expansions accessible to everyone during the Cataclysm expansion cycle, starting March 10th.
