The stalemate between AFC Wimbledon and Stevenage left both teams unsatisfied, as the former's winless streak extended to a worrying trend.
A tense affair unfolded at the Cherry Red Records Stadium, where the home side, desperate for a victory, faced a Stevenage team eyeing promotion. The game started cautiously, with neither team willing to expose themselves to an early setback.
But here's where it gets intriguing: Stevenage almost broke the deadlock when Harvey White's corner found Charlie Goode, whose header grazed the outside of the net, leaving the hosts relieved. This was a warning sign for Wimbledon, who responded shortly after. Steve Seddon's pinpoint cross found Omar Bugiel, but his connection was off, and Filip Marschall comfortably saved.
As the first half progressed, the hosts' nerves showed. A ricochet fell kindly for Marcus Browne, but his shot soared over the bar. Bugiel, too, will rue his missed opportunity, as he lifted the ball over from close range.
And this is where the game could have turned: Just before halftime, Goode rose again to meet White's delivery, but his powerful header drifted agonizingly wide. The second half saw Stevenage's Louis Thompson test Nathan Bishop with a fierce drive, while the Wimbledon keeper made a vital save at the death to keep out Jasper Pattenden's effort.
A point each, but both teams may feel they should have taken all three. What's your take on this encounter? Was it a fair result, or did one team deserve more?
